Remote Desktop connection stuck on "Configuring remote session" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I have one workstation with a remote connection problem.

    OS: Windows 7 enterprise 32-bit

Workstation is connected to a domain.

Problem started after June or July updates, I cannot connect to the workstation from any host via RDP. it just freezes on "Configuring remote session" and after few minutes it shows a message:

"this computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again."

All settings are set correctly, all accesses are given. Google is searched fully, neither solution worked for my situation.

  • Problem was solved. Cause: Missing self assigned remote desktop certificate. when restarting "Remote desktop configuration" services it was not creating it self. Event log showed that object is already existing. But it was not there.

    Solution

    1) C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA rename "MachineKeys" to "MachineKeys_backup"

    2) Restart Remote Desktop configuration services in local services.

    3) Check if Remote desktop certificate created.

  • Hi,
If you couldn’t check the steps below, feel free to try.
Please disable third-party software such as Anti-virus software if there’s any installed.
If the issue persists, please check logs on the Terminal Server, which were under:
    Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager
    Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager
Update the the GPO policy. You could manually run  GPUpdate.exe.
    Regards,

  • On the host which I cant connect in logs its only shown:

"RDP-tcp received a connection", nothing more.

On host from which I try to connect I see in other logs:

    Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-ClientActiveXCore

RDP ClientActiveX has been disconnected (Reason= 2308)
