Why won't my computer boot up normally? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having some computer issues. Last night my computer wouldn't run a program. I went to restart it, and instead of restarting, the icons and taskbar and everything disappeared (except for the wallpaper and my pointer, which I could move). So, I shut it off manually.

Then, when I tried to start the computer, it stayed on a blank black screen after it seemed to be loading. So, the next time I restarted it I went to system recovery. I tried system restore, and it restarted, but then went directly to system recovery again. I tried an earlier restore point and the same thing happened. Whenever I try to start my computer now, it goes directly to system recovery. I tried to open in safe mode and all I got is a black screen with the "safe mode" tags.

What can I do to start my computer normally again?
