Disable Malware Protection & Antispam With Exchange 2016 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

During new Exchange 2016 installation we enabled Malware protection. Since we already have 3rd party solutions to detect malware & spam, can we remove Antimalwarescanning (Disable-Antimalwarescanning.ps1) & AntiSpamAgents (UnInstall-AntiSpamAgents.ps1) safely?

As of now we disabled following agents on MB server :- content filtering (Set-ContentFilterConfig -Enabled $false), sender filtering (Set-senderfilterConfig -Enabled $false) & sender-id (Set-senderidConfig -Enabled $false), is this config enough or do we need to uninstall them completely?

    Regards

    Lal

  • Hi LMS,

Yes, if you are using another product for malware filtering, you can disable them safely.

Details see: Procedures for antimalware protection in Exchange 2016

For AntiSpamAgents, you can run the following commands to uninstall the agent:

    Uninstall-TransportAgent -Identity "Content Filter Agent"

    Uninstall-TransportAgent -Identity "Sender Id Agent"

    Uninstall-TransportAgent -Identity "Sender Filter Agent"

    Uninstall-TransportAgent -Identity "Protocol Analysis Agent"
