Disable Automatic Updates with WufB RRS feed

  • Question

  • There are several documentations on how to to configure Windows Update for Business with Group Policy or with SCCM. What i am missing is a way to disable the automatic updates. The Goal is to not defer Feature and Quality for a limited amount of time but to disable them alltogether so there is no risk of updates being installed until the Administrator activates them.

Has anyond achieved this without disabling the update Service altogether or blocking the Internet Access on the Clients?

  • Hi ,

Set "Configure Automatic Update" policy to Disabled. (Path: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update Configure Automatic Update) If the status for this policy is set to Disabled, any updates that are available on Windows Update must be downloaded and installed manually.

You can also use WSUS server to manage updates in your domain environment, updates will not be installed unless you approve them.

    Best regards

  • Thank you. We have seen this Setting before but we werent sure if it also prevents all kinds of automatic Feature/Branch Updates in Windows 10. But we will try it out.
