How to run wdsutil successfully and other autologon questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings,

I am trying to run wdsutil /initialize-server /reminst:R:\RemoteInstall /Authorize as a command line task sequence.

It runs fine when I manually do it opening a command prompt with "run as administrator".

On the task sequence that runs wdsutil I turn on "run this step as the following account" and use .\administrator and the correct password.

It fails with 1326 (insufficient privileges).

I run other commands within my task sequence which also require elevated privileges using the same account (.\administrator) and they work fine.

      What is it with wdsutil?

and as an aside....when a task sequence reboots, what account does it log on as? And does it continue to log on to that account even when it has joined the domain? and if it logs on as the local administrator account, how can a task sequence step get access to network resources? (e.g. \\server\share)

    Thanks
