"repadmin /syncall" give error "replication suppressed by user request"

    Question

  • Trying to force replication of the SysVol share across my DCs. Entered:

    repadmin /syncall /verbose

    and that returned this:

  • Hi Alex.Franco,

Error: 9036 (Paused for backup or restore) - This was and expected event,  as the DC was processing a scheduled backup at the time.  The Error code 9036 in the event ID 5002 could explain this is just a temporary and active termination due to Backup.

  • Hi Alex.Franco,

Could you please also run the dcdiag /q,repadmin /replsum and repadmin /syncall to check the details of DC's to analyse the main cause. And the event log.

Since according to the error: "Replication suppressed by user request", we could only know that the Replication fail, that can be many causes. Besides, what's your account to account for the operation. Sometimes the source domain controller is rejecting replication requests as configured by the administrator for valid reasons.

  • Mary,

Thanks for the reply! I ran the commands, dcdiag /q returns a failed test referencing a NETLOGON error for an unrelated VM having trouble joining the domain.

Repadmin /repslum returned, from what I can tell, an error-free summary

The eventvwr has several logs for DFSR errors, event ID 5002 error: 9036 (Paused for backup or restore) on this one DC. There are other errors listed for the DC, like "1753 there are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper" and "1726 the remote procedure call failed", but the 9036 error is happening much more.

I ran through the steps here (except the updates, which I'll be doing tonight anyway), but that didn't workout.

The reason I was trying to force the replication was because I'm getting sysvol version mismatches with group policy. I was hoping getting an error from the cmd prompt would help track down why group policy isn't replicating correctly

    Thanks!
