Fully Remove Software Update Point from Site Server RRS feed

  • Question

    • Deployed SUP on a site server.
    • Decided to move the SUP to a new server.
    • Removed the SUP role from the orginal Site Server in SCCM 2012 (WSUS is still running but not linked to SCCM or used)
    • Followed the process to add the SUP role to the new server.
    • SUP is running fine on the new server,
    • However the orginal server is throwing the following error in SCCM/Component Status:

    Error 6703

    WSUS Syncronization Failed.

Message: Failed to sync some of the updates.

    Source:

    Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SoftwareUpdatedManagement.WsusSyncAction.WSyncAction.SyncUpdates.

Note - WSUS is still running on the orginal server, but it is not being used or linked to SCCM 2012.

  • Does SUPSetup.log tell that the uninstallation was successful? When have you removed the role?

  • Yes, the SUPSetup.log shows the role was uninstalled successfully.

    Deinstalling the SMSWSUS

    Removing the WSUS Registry

    Deinstallation was successful

    Removed the role in January.
