Updates changed from Optional to Important

    Question

  • My computer automatically installs Important updates. Several were in the Optional queue & I didn't need the functions they applied to (Blue Tooth, Windows10, etc.). Suddenly one day they had changed from Optional to Important. How did this happen & why would MSN/Windows force them on me? I have no need for Azerbijan language updates (or any other foreign language for that matter, so that couldn't possibly be Important.)

  • Hi,
As far as I know, even though the updates are showed important, there is still an option to select which update you want to install.
Please go to control panelwindows updates and try to find it as below and have a try:

But if the computer is controlled by group policy to install the all updates without notifying users, you might not be able to choose which update you want. So please confirm that there is no policy settings configured on the computer. Please see details from https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720539(v=ws.10).aspx

    Regards,
    Wendy
