OCS 2007 and SCOM 2007 R2 - Problem with Data Warehouse RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have imported the OCS 2007 R2 management pack and am getting the following error:

Data Warehouse failed to deploy reports for a management pack to SQL Reporting Services Server. Failed to deploy reporting component to the SQL Server Reporting Services server. The operation will be retried.
Exception 'DeploymentException': Failed to deploy reports for management pack with version dependent id 'f35c2c45-e998-2948-fdbe-58b1f5e42b0e'. Failed to deploy linked report 'Report.OCSServer.2007.IsMyFrontendHealthyReport'. Failed to convert management pack element reference '$MPElement[Name="LC_SIP___07___Load_Management_SIP___000___Average_Holding_Time_For_Incoming_Messages__3__EE"]$' to guid. Check if MP element referenced exists in the MP. The user DS\scomdwra does not have sufficient permission to perform the operation.

I have read the following forum post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/operationsmanagermgmtpacks/thread/d0b862fc-cc7e-4832-9dd6-caba246203fe  and have tried the suggestions in that post, but am still getting this error showing up on the SCOM active alerts.

    Thoughts?

  • Ya hi.. Um, were you even able to deploy the reports when you imported the management pack?  I found I had to modify my security so that the reports could be imported.  When I would import the OCS R2 MP only about two reports would be imported.  I worked this issue with my msft contact and we got told to just modify the security settings of my deployment (basically go against best practices for security).

Regardless, I am sure once you deploy this MP you will probably be modifying it and or never alerting on it.  I created a custom mp for OCS.  I only build out what our admins wanted in regard to monitoring.  This MP is what we will use for alerting (there are a few other things like URL and port checking that I will build with the templates in seperate management packs).  The MP is pretty light weight and only really discovers front end and Communicator Web Access servers.

As soon as I have finished it up I will post it on my blog for download.  Then people, like yourself, can dl it, understand what it is doing, then create your own or extend it.
