Ways to have Mobile Device Management RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

I would like to ask you what are the solutions that MS have for Mobile Device Management.

I have in my mind the following:

    1. O365 enable Mobile Device Management

    2. O365 enable Mobile Device Management + buy Intune licenses for all or some of the O365 users

    3. O365 enable Mobile Device Management + buy Intune licenses for all or some of the O365 users + on premise System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

    4. Buy Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) licenses. No other product is required.

Please is the list above correct?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Close. Keep in mind that EMS is not really a separate solution, as it's simply a license form that includes Intune licenses. Also, keep in mind that you can't use Office365 MDM in combination with Intune hybrid (which is Intune + ConfigMgr). Only with Intune standalone. You can use Office365 without MDM together with Intune hybrid.

  • Peter,

    Thank you for the reply.

I will write down some more thoughts and please comment them.

    • As I can understand finally EMS are just licenses that provide you: Azure Premium AD + Intune + Azure Rights Management.
    • In case you already have an Azure subscription, you just import the licenses and apply them to specific (or all) users.
    • In case you do not have an Azure subscription you start from EMS trial https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/enterprise-mobility/ems-trial.aspx and (somehow) you import your licenses.
    • If I already have O365 (or Azure AD) and intune hybrid (intune + SCCM) can I enable EMS?, or for Microsoft O365 (or Azure AD) + intune hybrid = EMS?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • To your last question, you can add the EMS trial to an existing subscription if you go to the EMS trial page and click the Sign in button on the top of the screen next to the Want to add this to an existing subscription? text.
