  • Question

  • Is there any harm in disabling the Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging and Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging Call Router services if UM is not being used?

There is no harm in leaving them run, so I see no reason to do that, but you can disable them of you want.  Managed Availability probably wont like it so I recommend you leave them as is.

  • Hi,

Generally we install UM on a separate exchange server, if you are not using it then just uninstall it completely to save server resources, license cost etc. It will give no harm to users.

    Thanks

No, not in 2013/2016. I think he is referring to previous versions.

  • If you don't have any UM configuration done, it is not necessary to disable the services.
