Question

Hi,
I have a running SM Portal and accessible at https://con-scsm1.hv.com:444/SMPortal (example). As this way expose the server name to user, can i rename the FQDN of the portal ?
Say for example i want it to be name more generic such as https://servicedesk.hv.com:444/SMPortal.
Thank you.

Hi Aries,
You can configure an alternate access mapping in SharePoint Central Administration

Have you already done the preparation in DNS Manager to point to your new url?

Hi Dennis,
I found it, I have renamed the Public URL from http://con-scsm1 to http://servicedesk and everything works out as expected.
Thanks so much of the guidance.

Hi Dennis,
I am looking at the blog now.
Yes, I have done with the DNS but I done it with creating A Record instead of CNAME as mention in the blog. Does this matter ?
Thank you.
Regards.

Hi Dennis,
I have tested the steps and it works. One thing i notice that it is sort of a redirection of the SMPortal.
What i have is that as i typed https://servicedesk.hv.com:4444/smportal , it redirect me back to https://con-scsm1.hv.com:444/smportal and this show in the browser.
Is there a way that I don't show the server FQDN in the browser ?
Thank you.
