Rejected Timesheets - Automatic Notification or NOT? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've read in my MS Project Experts book that "When a timesheet manager rejects a timesheet, Project Server automatically sends an email message to notify the resource of the rejection, assumin gyour Project administrator enabled notifications."  To answer the first question - Yes, notifications are in fact enabled.

I've also read a similar message on the TechNet site stating: Microsoft Office Project Web Access provides alerts that a resource, or a resource's manager, can set up to send e-mail notification immediately after a timesheet is rejected. (source =

So, can anyone tell me why we are not seeing emails to resources when timesheets are rejected?  We're running Project Server 2010, notifications are enabled and we're seeing other emails generated.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Hi there,

By the link , I assume that you are using the project server 2007 & I do believe that Project Server 2007 doesn't send an e-mail message automatically when a Timesheet manager approves or rejects a Timesheet submission.  One timesheet is rejected, an indicator is displayed in the Status column on the resource's Timesheet Center page.

I believe you would need to use custom software development to achieve this notification via e-mail. In that case, you might want to
post this question in customization forum.

  • Hi Amit,

Thanks for the response.  We are using the 2010 version (I realized the link is for 2007 but it didn't seem logical that they would remove the functionality for 2010). I will post this on the customization forum for additional informaiton.  :)
