Office 365 - C2R - Project 2016 - 'Project Server 2016 Accounts' Crashing on launch RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have downloaded and installed Project 2016 (O365) using the ODT Toolkit 2016. All Installs as expected, Project launches fine with a prompt to sign in for subscription based licensing but when the end client launches 'Project Server 2016 Accounts' under the Microsoft Office 2016 Tools folder it immediately crashes.

It only launches if project 2016 is running before hand.

Has anyone else come across this. Is the an update that is needed?

This is the target path for Project Server 2016 Accounts:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\WINPROJ.EXE" -ProjectProfiles

    Event Viewer logs.

On the general office forum I was given a link to try the following KB3141459 but this is not recognised as I am using C2R install maybe as when installing it prompts. I have no product installed that is effected by the update.

Has anyone else come across this ?

  • Hi Hayub,

I saw something similar last time with a Customer.

They are creating an SCCM-Package to roll-out the P16 Clients to Employees.

But Guys who are doing the SCCM-Packages are not including VBA and some Additionals into the Package.

May be this hint will Help to verify/repair/change your P16 Setup.

  • Thank you for your reply Stefan

I have since found that 'Project Server 2016 Accounts' feature launches as expected via first launching project and then navigating to the info tab and then launch accounts, which I have relayed to the end user for now.

Installing the exe as directed by Microsoft works perfectly too but I think the ODT download and creation of APP V package ( sorry didn't mention app v creation earlier) might be breaking something. Hopefully, MS support can further investigate.

I will update If I find anything more.
