Windows update Agent Failed to download patches RRS feed

    Hello Experts,

    We are recently facing some strange issues on one of the cluster node which has Win2012 R2 OS.

    The Windows update agent is not able to download the updates from WSUS server.

    Please see below Logs from server post reboot.

    2015-11-11 10:24:03:535 2296 908 AU WARNING: Failed to get Network Cost info from NLM, assuming network is NOT metered, error = 0x80240037
    2015-11-11 10:24:03:550 2296 908 AU WARNING: Failed to get Network Cost info from NLM, assuming network is NOT metered, error = 0x80240037
    2015-11-11 10:24:06:019 2296 908 AU ReAttemptDownloadsAsUserIfNecessary, No calls in download progress.
    2015-11-11 10:24:06:019 2296 908 AU WARNING: Failed to get Network Cost info from NLM, assuming network is NOT metered, error = 0x80240037
    2015-11-11 10:24:06:019 2296 908 AU WARNING: Failed to get Network Cost info from NLM, assuming network is NOT metered, error = 0x80240037

    The error code is -

    0x80240037 - The functionality for the operation is not supported.

    What does it means ?

    Also, if we try to stop Windows Update service from Services.msc, it throw an error and cannot stop.

    Can  someone please suggest what went wrong with configuration ?

    Hi,

    This warning is common. It means Windows can't determine if the connection is a metered network.

    Internet service providers can charge by the amount of data used (the amount of data sent and received by your PC). That's called a metered Internet connection.

    If you are not using a metered internet connection, it's safe to ignore this warning.

    If you have any update download issue, please post the windowsupdate.log here, it may give some hints.
