How to get more policy settings for baseline in SCM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I see "Prevent acess to drives from My Computer" in local policy (gpedit.msc) on my Win7 Computer. How do I create one such baseline from SCM25 and then I wanted to export the same to apply on few hundreds of WorkGroup computers . I refer to security compliance manager 25 version

    1) I dont see same settings avialable in SCM25

    2) How can I export settings of local policy as above, to some config that SCM can import ?

    3) How to apply above policy to Workgroup Computers ?

    Thanks,

    Vasu

  • Vasu;

    1) SCM doesn't support all settings available in group policy, this is discussed in our FAQ: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1836.aspx#Q_Why_are_some_settings_or_types_of_settings_not_supported_by_SCM.

    2) You can create a backup of the local group policy using our LocalGPO tool, but if you import it into SCM the settings that are not recognized cannot be edited.

    3) You could create a backup of the local group policy using our LocalGPO tool, then use that same tool to apply the backup to the other systems.

    I have a question for you: why are you trying to manage hundreds of computers without joining them to a domain, using AD DS group policies would be much easier.
