  • Your starting point would be Hyper-V as the virtualization layer, and VMM 2012 as the management layer. VMM 2012 is the beating heart beat in your private cloud implementation, but you would also consider and require additional components to have a true private cloud. check this post: http://kristiannese.blogspot.com/2011/08/microsoft-private-cloud.html

  • Hi Susan,

Kristian gives good advice regarding a learning path!

In addition, it's important that you have a strong architectural foundation for your private cloud. In order to get the full value from cloud computing (in contrast to just server virtualization), you should have a deep understanding of private cloud principles, concepts and patterns. You can find out more about these by reading the article Private Cloud Principles, Concepts and Patterns.

After that, you'll see that in order to get the most out of your System Center software, you'll want to dive more deeply into what creates a successful private cloud. This is where the Reference Architecture for Private Cloud comes in.

    Enjoy!
