FIM Portal for Non-Employees RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I have a requirement to build a specific portal to manage non-employees.  We have some pretty basic fields (lastname, firstname, employee-id, start-date, end-date, status, manager) that should only be displayed on.   We do want to remove these fields from the normal user portal.

How easy is this to do?  Can this be done directly in FIM or needs to be done in something else?

Can you point me to some information that may shed some light on how to do something like this.

    Thanks for your help

  • Bob-

This is doable in the FIM Portal. You'll probably end up wanting to create a custom resource type so that you can display the UI you want just for managing your non-employee users.

  • for every resource type, you can define three GUIs, one for viewing an object, one for editing an object and one for create an object
Those three can be the same or different.
Based upon the permissions assigned to a person some attributes may be displayed and some others may not

If you have another type of user (in your case a non-employee) you want to manage through the portal AND the information you want to manage is different than, let??s the regular user, you most likely will end up defining a new resource type in the FIM Portal schema and for that new resource type create the three corresponding GUIs (view, edit, create). The downside of that is that new resource type representing people CANNOT logon to the FIM Portal. Only objects with the resource type PERSON can logon to the FIM Portal

    Cheers,
