BluetoothNotificationAreaIconWindowCla... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good morning,

We have deployed several systems using Windows Embedded POSReady 2009.

Lately, some of our systems are randomly displaying the following Windows error message related to Bluetooth

    End Program - BluetoothNotificationAreaIconWindowCla...

    The program is not responding.

Our systems do not have any Bluetooth hardware installed and thus I cannot modify any Bluetooth parameters on the OS.

The only bluetooth related device that has been used is a Logitech DiNovo Mini keyboard that uses bluetooth to communicate between the USB dongle and the actual keyboard. The error message comes up after the system has been restarted without the dongle being present.

Does anybody have an idea how to disable all Bluetooth functionality on Windows Embedded POSReady 2009?

    Thank you.

  • Marc,

Try removing the registry key that is starting the Bluetooth Authentication Agent on startup.

    1. Start - Run - Regedit

    2. Select HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    3. Choose File - Export to save a backup REG file just in case you want to restore the settings

    4. Delete the BluetoothAuthenticatioAgent value below the Run key.

Please report back if this resolves the problem.

  • Hi Terry,

Sorry about the delay unswering your proposal.

Today I removed the registry key. Unfortunately the error comes up randomely so we'll have to wait a few days to make sure it doesn't come up again.

Thank you again for your suggestion.

    Cheers

  • Marc,

Please make sure that you restart the computer after removing this registry key.  This registry key loads the Bluetooth Agent on startup and unless you restart the computer it will still be running.
