  • Hi,

Since you haven't specified the version of Sharepoint that you are planning to install, I will give you all the links for requirements for WSS 3.0 and Sharepoint 2007  :

The hardware and sofware requirements are available in these article :

    WSS 3.0 : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc288751(office.12).aspx

    Sharepoint Server 2007 : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485(office.12).aspx

Even if it's possible to install WSS 3.0 / Sharepoint 2007 on 32 bits, you should consider 64 bits for all the advantages described in this article : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd630764(office.12).aspx

You should use Office 2007 and for Visual Studio 2008.

    Hope it helps you, Mario

  • Hi,

When you say that you're unable to install Office 2007 could you give us the error message ?

I use Office 2007 32 bit on a 64 bit OS (windows vista and windows 7) and Office 2010 32 bits on Windows server 2008 R2 without problem.

  • If possible I would recommend using Window 2008 R2 x64 and MOSS 2007 x64.  I would also recommend using SQL Server 2008 R2 x64.

There are two many advantages of this recommendation:

    1) You will benefit from the advantages of an x64 environment as Mario suggested.

    2) You will leave the door open for an upgrade to SharePoint 2010.

    Note that SharePoint 2010 requires a Windows 2008 x64 and either SQL Server 2005 or 2008 x64.
