Internet Search engines link problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • The end user had a fake antivirus virus.  I was able to remove the virus and get all other programs working.  Internet Explorer will browse pages and links on pages such as MSN and other websites work normally.

The problem is only with search engines.  Tested by searching the word Adobe with Google and Bing.

Google: will produce a search result.  If you click Adobe (the link to www.adobe.com) it will ask if you want to open or save url.  If you click one of the sub links like Adobe Acrobat Reader or Downloads they go to the page.

Bing:  Type Adobe and click search it asks if you want to open or save search.

I have opened the Internet Explorer options, reset Internet Explorer settings, restored advanced settings and deleted the browser cookies, history and temp files.  I have removed Internet Explorer from the Windows features, rebooted and added it back.

After doing these things even the sub links ask about opening the url in Google.
