recent lists are different RRS feed

  • Question

  • When in an Office app such as Excel 2007 or Word 2007, and maybe others, the recent list is different within the Office apps compared to a recent list within a jump list in Windows 7. Is there some setting to make these the same?

  • Probably not.  Windows 7 maintains the jump list automatically, without the program's help.  If you open a file from within the program, Windows might not notice and won't update the jump list.  Programs can be designed to tell Windows to be 'hands off' and the program will maintain the jump list manually, presumably keeping them synchronized... but since that is not required, most programs just let Windows do it alone.

  • The recent documents in Office 2007 apps recond every files that user opens recently, while the Recent list in the jumplist is populated dynamically and you do not have control over this list.

As the Office 2010beta have the same recent list in the programs and jumplist, I think it's the new update would give you the same list.

Please let us know your difference between them, it's better to collect a screenshot for comparing. You can upload it to your public folder in the SkyDrive. Please don't contain any personal information in it.

I hope this can help you.
