"Bulk Import of Users in Project Server 2016" RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are anticipating a need to add between 600 and 1000 new users o our MS Project 2016 environment.

    We are using Active Directory.

The GUI (PWA or MS Project Pro) don't not appear to offer an import approach using excel spreadsheets.

Does anyone have a PowerShell solution to our import situation ?

  • In the past, I have done a one time AD Sync to achieve this:

    1) Set up an AD group for all your 1000 users and add them to that group

    2) Set up a security group called "All Users" and sync your AD group with it

    3) repeat the same for your Enterprise Resource pool.

Now you are free to assign permissions to users and move them around between security groups.

You can schedule the AD sync to to repeat, if desired.

  • Hi,

this used to be really simple, but these days not so easy.  If you can enter a single resource and then open that resource in MS Project from PWA (from the resource center) this will open the enterprise resource pool.  From there you should be able to cut and paste the resources in from Excel to MSProject.  Note that you'll need the name and at least the address.  I haven't tried this for a while but I've done this in the past...
