App-V through SCCM 2007 R2 - Update Package functionality RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to confirm its possible to update a currently delivered App-V application without needing to re-run the advertisement? And if so what are the steps required to make this work?

We are currently using the streaming option to launch applications. I have ran through the process of updating the old application and within SCCM selecting update package, specifying the updated manifest file and ensuring the source files are updated on the server. The only way the clients are receiving the updated package is by re-running the advertisement. I have read through the App-V and ConfigMgr whitepaper and im under the impression this should not be required. I always thought the "checking for updates" pop up on launch provided this functionality but i seem to be mistaken.

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • The "checking for updates" applies the Active Upgrade which is found in a traditional App-V server-integrated infrastructure.
