Audio RTP payload for Lync RRS feed

  • Question

  • What is the audio RTP payload used by calls from Lync? I ask this because we use 111, 114 and 115 which I have been told are Microsoft Prop, I do not know if Lync uses same #’s. It would also help if someone let me know which of the Microsoft products uses 111, 114 and 115.

  • Payload type 111 is used for Siren and since Siren is not an MS protocol it is not proprietary. Payload types 114 and 115 are used by MS for RT Audio and these are proprietary protocols used by Lync (and OCS).

  • Hi,

The update KB2614343 enabled the use of the RTAudio narrowband codec for WAN communication to a Lync 2010 Mediation server without the use of Call Admission Control (CAC). More info:

  • Payload 118 is for Comfort Noise. If you are running the latest CU for Lync the WAN audio codec should be RT Audio narrowband.
