What's my Server 2019 TP Activation Code? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I just installed Windows Server 2019 Technical Preview Datacenter with Desktop Experience. During set up (on VMware) I left the activation key blank. I finished installing and went to change the background/colors and it says it is not activated. So, does anyone know what activation code I should use for my Technical Preview?

  • These keys does not work for the newest build 1803 (OS Build 17666.1000) LTSC

But it seems, that I do not need them till this preview expires (December 2019) or do I?

  • Hi, I'm back after 2-3 months. I have a question...Does the above Code work forever? Like a Technical Preview and not an Evaluation? Server 2019 is telling me I need to move to a new Build and that my Code runs out 7/2/2018 (2 days ago.) There's no new builds in Windows Update. It still says Windows is Activated in Settings. Anyone? I'll check back. Thanks

  • Me again...I downloaded the newest LTSC build 17692 and installed it. I noticed I was a few Builds behind. I think that was the problem. I activated with the same Code as above. It worked. Hopefully I won't see the error and I can continue to update through Windows. Does that work forever (or at least until Server 2019 releases?) I always had a problem with my first Server 2019 not being able to connect my Microsoft Account. I would enter it in Settings and it would say "Oops It's our fault" and I never got the account and it's insider account on. Maybe that was the problem too. Actually, I am having problems adding my Microsoft Account now. It pops up in settings but closes before I can change anything. I'll play with it and reboot. Hopefully it'll work. Is 17692 the newest version? It doesn't have any new ones in Update. I'll check back later.

  • Windows Insider Program

The above link is post for the general Insider program, but does include Server 2019. 17692 is latest 2019 at this time.

I was unable to add an MS account (although Defender does prompt), so hmm be interesting if that starts or worked or is dropped from Server 2019.

  • Worked for build 17744, Standard Edition.

  • Std Key worked for Preview Build 17744, but only on a fresh install.

Upgrading from the prior release, and then applying the key didn't take (I know a fresh install is recommended)
