ex 2007 sp3: cannot enable outlook anywhere. its looking for a blank website name RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to enable outlook anywhere in exchange 2007 sp3 on a windows 2003 server and am receiving the following error:

the web site '' on server 'xxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxx' does not exist. The name of the web site is case sensitive.
    Parameter name: WebSiteName

    Exchange Management Shell command attempted:
enable-OutlookAnywhere -Server 'xxxxxx' -ExternalHostname 'mail.xxxxxxx.org' -DefaultAuthenticationMethod 'Basic' -SSLOffloading $false

not sure why its not showing the default IIS name of 'Default Web Site' instead its just showing ''

i have uninstalled RPC, reset iis, reinstalled RPC and reset iss numerous times, and tried a reboot. still getting the same error.

    any help is greatly appreciated.
