MIDI program - Performs slower in Windows 10 than Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm testing Windows 10 on a second partition on my ssd, with all the drivers installed.etc, and I found a problem.  When I'm testing massive MIDI files on PianoFromAbove -> Coolsoft VirtualMidiSynth, performance is more than 2 times as laggy in Win10 compared to Win7.

As there are only two theads involved, one for pianofromabove and other for coolsoft, midi performance here greatly depends on single-threaded performance.  "Passmark Single Threaded" benchmarks however scored approx. 50 points higher in Win10 than Win7, but my PFA+VMS performance testing still returned worse in 10.

Here's a link to a video that shows a comparison between the two OSes to demonstrate this problem.

And the files applicable to reproducing the same type of testing that I did.

This problem seems to also occur with Windows 8/8.1, which causes Windows 8.x to be a HUGE turnoff within the Black MIDI Community compared to Windows 7.

Can you guys look into this?  Thanks
