3Com FE575C Windows Update Driver causes Blue Screen Crash RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a laptop running Windows Vista Business edition, clean installed with all the latest updates.

I also have a 3Com xjack Ethernet PC Card (Model number 3CXFE575CT)

Out of the box, it came up as an unknown device, but Microsoft Update offered a driver for it (Identified as 3Com - net - FE575C-3Com 10/100 LAN CardBus-Fast Ethernet). When it attempts to install, the laptop always blue screen crashes (Tried installing it both via Microsoft Update, and device manager mmc console.) The card itself is OK, as I've tested it on Windows XP Hardware.

I know it's an old card, so it's probably too much to hope for an updated driver, but I thought I should flag the issue, as if this isn't an isolated incident, the driver may need to be pulled from Microsoft Update.
