PLEASE HELP - Boot Configuration Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • First of all, please understand that I know nothing about any of this so please speak in 'plain english' if possible lol.

I have an ASUS pc and am running Vista.  The following comes up when I turn my pc on -

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the
    cause. To fix the problem:

    1. Insert your windows installation disk and restart your computer.
    2. choose your language settings, then click "Next."
    3. click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer
    manufacturer for assistance>

    File: \Boot\BCD

    Status: 0xc000000f

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration
    data."

I'VE PUT THE RECOVERY DISC IN AND CHANGED THE BOOT PRIORITY TO BOOT FROM CD/DVD DRIVE FIRST BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE READING THE DISC.  IT GOES THROUGH THE START UP SCREEN AND THEN TURNS TO A BLUE SCREEN WHERE IT SEEMS TO FREEZE.  I CAN HEAR THE DISC TURNING AS IF IT IS TRYING TO READ BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING.

    CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE?

    Thanks very much in advance.

    Marnie
