DPM 2010 error ID: 270 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok so i am seeing a lot of people with this error but not figuring out my issue here.

    Protection agent version: 3.0.7696.0

Error: Data Protection Manager Error ID: 270

I do not feel like the recommended action apply to me or have all ready tried them without solving my issue.

This is happening on 3 of my 20 or so servers, the 3 servers are server 2003 with no firewall running. Installing the agent from the DPM server failed so i tried the manual install. i specified the DPM server when installing the agent but have also ran the setdpmserver pointing it to my dpm server with no change. There three servers also used to be on a different domain but had been moved over if you think that might effect something.

    Ideas?

  • Hi

Add the DPM servers computer account to the domain admin group. After adding the DPM servers computer account wait for a while, then refresh the agent status in the DPM console, does it work.

If it works, verify your default domain policy. Be ABSOLUTELY sure what your doing before modifying this.

  • That worked. I guess my question is why did i have to do it on those 3 boxes and none of my other 20 and what kind of security risk is that?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ben

In most cases the default domain policy has been alterd. If you restore it please be aware that some functions could be disabled and stoped working.
