Windows Server 2016 Refs corrupt RRS feed

  • Question

  • Due to the power outage, we would like to repair the refs filesystem but we found no refsutil on windows server 2016.
Any command or tools to check & repair the REFS on windows server 2016?

  • Hi,

    What errors are you receiving?

A ReFS formatted disk will automatically attempt to repair errors or corruptions, similar to chkdsk.

For a single file, you can repair its integrity by running the Repair-FileIntegrity PowerShell cmdlet.

You can also try running the Repair-Volume PowerShell cmdlet.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hi,

Proper way to go would be recovering from backup but as you don't have a backup then you'll have to get data back parsing file system meta data left untouch. There are bunch of apps parsing ReFS or doing generic search (based on file signature and header processing), see below. But I'd leave this task to professionals. IMHO.

    See:

Hope this helped a bit :) Good luck!
