Get, Create and Modify mailbox with c#

    Question

  • We want to create/delete/modify or change mailbox with c# (we are writing custom software)

    - Can we use c#?

    - Must we use EWS?

    - Are Create and modify possible with EWS and c# ?

Yes but you need to use the Exchange Management Shell which you can use via C# eg https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/office/developer/exchange-server-2010/ff326159(v%3Dexchg.140).

No you can't use EWS to create or edit mailboxes, EWS is a Mailbox Access API so is used when you want to access Mailbox data. The Exchange Management Shell is the administrative API so this is what you need to use for CRUD operations on Mailboxes.

  • Hi,

Based on your description, you have the requirement to create/delete/modify or change mailbox with c#. Since the forum mainly focuses on the Exchange 2016 general troubleshooting issues, and this question is more related to Exchange development, to better resolve the issue, I will move the thread to Exchange Server Development forum.

    Thanks for your understandings.

    Regards,
