Max retention for file data? RRS feed

  • Question

  • To my understanding the max restore points I can have for file data on disk in DPM is 64.

So does this basically restrict the retention time for file data on short term disk to 64 days?

If so is there any work around to extend this?

  • Even though the number of restore points is limited to 64,
You still can increase the retention range upto 448 days by having RP only once per week (or 224 days by having RP twice a week).

    Thanks,

  • Yes thats right - we will not have access to incremental data across recovery points. For long term protection for FS, Backup to Tape media can be an option.

  • Hi, you are correct. the max number of recovery point is 64 for File Protection. You need to have at least 1 / day so it makes 64 days retention maximum. I never heard about workaround.

Correct, but then I would lose any incremental data between the recovery points correct?
