spoolsv.exe excessive network traffic RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a print server that is generating excessive network traffic, hundreds of gigabytes per day from and to the print server via the spoolsv.exe service, eventually the service crashes and then it works ok for a short while but then the traffic ramps up again. Any ideas?

We can see the traffic going to and from the server, but the print jobs are small, so is there any way to see what the excess traffic is?

I have taken a network trace but cant see anything that would help me identify what the traffic is.

  • Agree with Mr X, update your printer drivers. Check the manufacturer websites for the latest driver or check with their tech support.
