DPM 2012 R2 not recognizing tapes as DUE or Overdue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Fresh DPM 2012 R2 install v.4.2.1603.0 (had our previous DPM server crash and opted for a clean rebuild)

Currently, tapes are NOT being recognized as due or overdue in tape management. The protection groups are expired, but the tape status never changes to due or overdue.

    For example:

Two Protection Groups each have 30 day retention for weekly tape backup
Colocation is setup with 4-week expiry tolerance

    Today is 8/14...

Tape-A was created 6/15, expired 7/13 but still not showing as "due online"
Tape-B was created 7/7, expired 8/4, but is showing as "offsite ready"

I reduced the expiry tolerance to zero, waited until maintenance jobs had run, but nothing has changed.

I already checked to ensure the corresponding disk backups had been expired and pruned properly, which they have been. So, I'm not sure why these tapes aren't being managed by DPM properly.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

Could you provide a screenshot of your tapes in the DPM console?

So the tapes have data, which is expired right? Can this data be deleted or do you want to keep this data for the future?

    Best regards,
