Welcome Screen delay for 3 - 7 minutes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

we face a Welcome screen delay with users for 3 - 7 minutes. We have tried to remove group policies, SW, etc... and it did not help.

We tried to investigate using Windows Performance Analyzer and we found that the Winlogin phase takes long time as below.

any hint how we can using the windows performance analyzer find the root cause of this issue?

  • Thanks for bumping the thread.  I missed your previous post.

Unfortunately the process that is causing this is marked unknown.  It is causing services.exe to hang and has launched over 1000 new threads.

It looks like svchost initiates the login phase as normal and then about 40 seconds in the unknown process delays svchosts' completion for a full 180 seconds.  May very well be a network issue.

Is this in a domain?  What is the network setup?  We need more info.

  • Hi,

There are many reasons could cause the logon delay. Since you are using domain account in the domain environment, we consider this issue occurs because the User Profile Service Application does not instantly respond after the network connection is reconnected.

We would like to suggest you check for updates in Windows Update in Control Panel to update your user profile version. Also, you could download the updates manually from the link below and test the issue again.

Hope that will be helpful to you.

    Best Regards
