Service Manager Portal and Change Request RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone

I just have a question, I read on the forum that Change Request is not yet supported on the Service Manager Self Portal (please correct me if I am wrong)

So how do a users submit and track the status of a change request, is it that all users need the console installed on their system ?

How is it normally done if the portal doesn't support

    SCSM 2012 SP1

  • That's wrong, change requests (and any Work Items) are supported.
Yes, the users who need to submit and track the change requests require the SM console (Change requests are not available on the portal)

  • Hi, you could also take a look at http://www.gridprosoftware.com/en/products/webfront or http://www.cireson.com/app-store/scsm-web-console/ , both products give a web access to the consol. Then you just have to scoope the Change Request users access.

  • Only Incidents and Service Requests can be submitted/created via the portal.  However you may also handle Activity Management in the portal.  If your users have activities assigned to them, those activities will show up in the portal with the ability to approve, reject, etc...

So if you want management to use the portal I would recommend structuring activities (I would recommend that anyway).  Your other option is to have them use the console and configure their user roles as Change Initiators.

The web consoles that Jaisgh are another option.  They are expensive but pretty sweet.

  • Juts like the guys mentioned the SM support change requests, The decision was taken based on fact that SSP is USER interface "Users has ability to initiate Incidents and SR" while Console is IT interface with full functionality . so web console is good choice for your question
