CentOS 7.2 will not halt on Hyper-V 2012 R2 Core RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've just installed a fresh CentOS VM on Hyper-V 2012 R2 Core and when I halt the VM the machine doesn't get powered off. I installed LIS 4.1 and rebooted, but I still get the same behaviour. Any ideas on what's up? The host and guest of all latest updates installed.

    Versions:
    CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core)
    Hyper-V 2012 R2 Core

I also have CentOS 6.8 guest running on the same Hyper-V host and that halts fine and powers off no problem.

  • Did you take a look at the note and matrix here:

  • You should be able to shut down or power off CentOS 7.2 VMs with no unexpected difficulties. When you say "halt" are you trying to shut it down? If so, are there any guest log entries?

For the power down case, are there any entries in the host logs around this event? This will help us diagnose the issue.
