Add your exchange account

    Question

  • Any idea how to add an Exchange 2007 account to Windows 8 mail. I have put in the usual settings which work for most email clients, including IOS and Android, but no joy.

  • There is antoher thread under application compatibility with Problems connecting to Exchange 2003.

But also no solution at the moment. If noone is faster I'm propably going to test conectivity to my Exchange 201 to check if the Problem also exists there.

Right now someone opened a post with the same Problem for Exchange 2010. So there seems to be a generel Problem with the mail app connecting to Exchange from 2003 to 2010 version.

  • It was my understanding there is not exchange support in the core mail app. Outlook is still required as an Exchange Client. I have tried to setup my Office 365 account with no :-).

  • I maneged to connect to my 365 account, but no chance with connection to my own exchange server 2010 with self signed certificate. This one is working with outlook anywhere and windows 7 mobile without problems, but the win8 mail client cannot connect.

  • I have also got Office 365 account working with the default app.  I have a test Exchange 2010 which uses self signed certificates.  I'll have a look at that and get back to you.

BTW, did you install the certificate in Win 8 before trying to configure the app?

    Cheers, Steve

  • The Mail App only appears to support Outlook Live accounts - Hotmail, Live@edu, Office 365 etc. I have tried domain joined and workgroup Win 8 to two different Exchange 2010 systems with the same result.

A Netmon trace shows the client trying Outlook Live URLs against my local server IPs.
