S2D with local mounted VHDX on bare metal? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am playing with an S2D Cluster as HCI (TP5). It works well and I know the hardware requierments (only local attached SSD, HDD)

Because the "micro" servers have only 3 disk (1xOS, 2 for S2D) I created and mounted some local VHDX. The VHDX appears under storage spaces primordial pool.

After Enable-ClusterS2D -CacheMode Disabled -AutoConfig:0 -SkipEligibilityChecks -Confirm

Only the physical disks are in the S2D pool. The vhdx are still in primordial pool.

Is there a unsupported way to use local VHDX in S2D pool?

  • Hi Thoma,

I searched the documents related to S2D. It seems they are all talking about local disks, not virtual disks.

I'm afraid your requirement may not be supported currently.

Anyway, as Server 2016 is only a preview version, some features may not work properly, we could wait for later updates and documents.

    Best Regards,
