Windows Sharepoint 2003 - Web Design Question

I was recently challenged to build a website to improve communications in my division.

My system currently has Microsoft SharePoint Server 2003 loaded. I was considering using Sharepoint Designer to build a website and was wondering if this was a good path to head down. Does anyone know what version is the lateest version of Sharepoint Designer that I can use and still be compatible with SharePoint Server 2003. I really appreciate any feedback from the group as my boss is very eager to see results. Please

If you have FrontPage 2003 kicking around you could use that. SharePoint Designer 2007 will work with SharePoint 2003 and as it's the closest version it should be less confusing than SPD2010 or SPD2013.

As to whether the 2010/2013 versions work with SP2003 I honestly do not know, though I would guess they do.

Use SPD 2007 to open 32 bit site like wss or SP 2007. If can not open WSS 3.0 in SPD 2010 or SPD 2013.
