How does FS4SP calculate result ranking? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys?

    I have a bit confuse but FS4SP ranking. So I use FAST Query Logger to debug.

    Here is my FQL:

    string(
        "ant",
         annotation_class="user",
         mode="simpleall"
    ) AND filter(
        and(
            catogery:animal and size:small
        )
    )

    and here is the result ranking:

    Hit: 2
    Query term: 'ant'
      Context score...............: 2443
        Number of hits/score................: 14/69
        Anchor & query text hits/score in...: 17/94
        Importance level/score.................: 8, 7, 4, 1/2280
    Query term: 'ant'
      Context score...............: 3499
        Anchor & query text hits/score in...: 49/3499
    Query term: 'ant'
      Context score...............: 1552
        Anchor & query text hits/score in...: 8/1552
    XRANK score...................: 7000      Term: contentsource:mypet
    Static rank score.............: 15489
    Freshness score...............: 1172
    Total Rank score.........: 16661

    Hit: 6
    Query term: 'ant'
      Context score...............: 2569
        Number of hits/score................: 20/73
        Anchor & query text hits/score in...: 16/88
        Importance level/score.................: 8, 7, 4, 2, 1/2408
    Query term: 'ant'
      Context score...............: 874
        Anchor & query text hits/score in...: 45/874
    Query term: 'ant'
      Context score...............: 479
        Anchor & query text hits/score in...: 1/479
    XRANK score...................: 7000      Term: contentsource:mypet
    Static rank score.............: 11876
    Freshness score...............: 972
    Total Rank score.........: 12848

    My question is why does the query term score has separated into 3 parts? The first part is make sense but the others is not and make the result ranking a bit weir (For the user expect, the result no.6 should have score higher than result no.2 ).

    How does the score in part2 and part3 calculate from?Can anyone give me an answer?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bo

  • Hi, thanks for the sending raw ranklog.

    Here's a quick update from my side: notice that FAST links some entries of term "mvpn" to assocqueries and anchortext, which are built in properties with importance level 8.

    I'll let you know when will find out more.

  • Hi!

    Lucky you are :) Currenly I'm extending F4SP QueryLogger to provide more detailed information (siterank, docrank, urldepth, hwboost for static rank and more), and I will be happy to dive into your case. I could help you if you share with me full ranklog from FAST, the easiest option for you is to use my updated version ( i can send you a link to .exe or updated sources). Here's a link to dropbox public folder with modified QueryLogger, feel free to used it and please share the RAW rank log from corresponding new tab. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/acj6iok26lrtkib/UOs-Pv83gS

  • Alexey, did you figure out anything more related to this? I'm experiencing the same issue - assocqueries is getting a contex score of 4999 (with 50 hits) for a document that has no relevance to the query.

  • Hi Trond,

    there's an idea that may help.

    Please use spreladmin.exe to find out clicks that are associated with your document. I've described how to make it here. Let me know the results please
