app v management server installation problems database is not getting created RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am not able to install app-v management server setup. I am using sql server 2008 R2 express edition for database purpose. The setup does not finish the whole installation without throwing the error just displays that the installation is not completed. Also the database is also not getting created when I open Sql. Is there any need for other sql server version?

  • Hi,

    I am getting this error...the wizard was interrupted before the application virtualization management server could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.

    My computer configuration is XP Sp2, sql server 2008 R2 express edition. I have managed to install sequencer successfully and created the package as well. But server and client setups are not getting installed. For Server setup I have managed to go to the steps of tcp port configuration where in I used to select default port. When I click on next, the above window appears and I have to click on finish to exit the setup. Where I am going wrong?

    As far as Client setup is concerned... I am getting RDS error 25001. After searching for this error, I got to know that I have to download MDOP 2011. Is there any need for this? What else I need to run these setups? Also Streaming server setup is there. It should reside on same machine as that of management server setup? Please help its urgent.

    Thanks,

    Sheetal

  • hello,

    Are there any errors before the final confirmation of a failed install? Can you enable verbose logging of the Windows Installer?

    Regarding the client error;

  • Hi,

    I am sorry because I don't know anything about verbose logging. How to enable that?

    Thanks,

    Sheetal

  • Also there are no errors before that failed confirmation. Therefore I can not able to recognize the error. I am having Microsoft bizpark Login ID. I am downloading MDOP 2011 from downloading center. Its having 2.2 GB size iso file.  That is ....en_microsoft_desktop_optimization_pack_2011_x86_x64_dvd_644995.iso  Is that the same for what I am looking for?

  • Hello,

    RDS requires a Remote Desktop Services client. MDOP is only intended for client operating systems - the acronym means Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack.

    RDS client 4.6 is available here;

  • Hi,

    Do I need any coding or to code manually for implementing applications using app-v?  Also do we need any coding using Citrix Xenapp?

    Thanks,

  • Hello,

    Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack is available on Microsoft Technet / MSDN (which requires an account) or the Microsoft Volume Licensing Site (which requires an account).

  • Hi,

    Still I am not able to download the MDOP ...its getting stopped automatically while downloading. Instead I have got another installer for desktop client through which I have managed to install client successfully. Now I am having sequencer as well as client on two different machines. But still App v management server is not getting installed. I am having sql 2005 express edition on my machine. My question is do I need other version of sql? Because after tcp port configuration step, the installation gets interrupted and I have to click on finish forcibly. Because of this I am not able to proceed furthermore. Please help.

    Thanks,

    Sheetal

  • Hello,

    I would still urge you to carefully and with great attention to details read the entire trial guide.

    In case you want to match your version - this is the corresponding whitepaper;

  • Hi,

    I have gone through the requirements parts. My machine on which I wanted to install server is having following configuration:-

    IIS 5.1

    .Net Framework 4.0

    Sql server 2008 R2 Express Edition

    XP Service Pack 3

    I think this is enough.

    Its not giving error about IIS because now I have managed to go to the Group name step. I am getting error... the installation program was unable to connect to Domain. I have given group name as Administrators and on click of next button I am getting this error. Please help.

    Thanks,

    Sheetal

  • Hello,

    Have you read the trial-guide?

     Does it state all those components as prerequisites?

  • Hi,

    They have mentioned like the computer systems used for trial evaluation and in that they have list down the following configuration:-

    Windows server 2008(32 bit or 64 bit)

    IIS 7.0

    .Net framework 2.0 or higher

    MSSQL 2005 express edition

    I was not having IIS so it was giving error and when I installed it now its not giving IIS error though I am having IIS 5.1.

    Thanks,

    Sheetal

  • Hi,

    I have told my Admin to arrange windows server 2008 as I am not having it on my machine. I came across one term 'wise packaging' while reading application virtualization. Can you please foreword some links so that i will get the good understanding of this term conceptually.

    Thanks,

    Sheetal
