SCCM 1602 In-Place OS Upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • We just learned one of the key features of SCCM 1602 is that in-place OS upgrades are supported (Win2008R2 to Win2012R2).  This is great news as our SCCM1511 migration to a new 2012R2 server has been marred with a few setbacks all along the way.  In short - the only reason for the Migration was to get to the newer OS.

Anyway - on with the question.  Our primary site server (SCCM1511) sits on Win2008R2.  We'd like to get it to Win2012R2.  Of course MS supports the OS upgrade for SCCM1602, so an upgrade to that would be in order first.  No problem - we recently upgraded to 1511 with little fanfare.

Our Primary site server also holds the Site Database role (SQL 2012).  It's apparent SCCM1602 can handle the OS upgrade without issue.  How about SQL?  Will SQL have issue with the OS upgrade?  Is there anything I should be concerned with (regarding the SQL install) while performing the OS upgrade to 2012R2?
