Project Schedule is Blank when opened in PWA using Project Server 2016 RRS feed

  • Question

  • This was working and cannot figure out why or when it stopped.  Its a test farm and just notice the project schedule is not displaying in PWA.  See screen shot below.

My project schedules are showing blank lines.  When opening project schedule from PWA on Windows 10 or Windows 8, using IE or Chrome, it is blank.  It is also blank when opening schedule on Windows server 2008, 2008 R2 or 2012.  It sometimes works with Chrome when using a different user account but not consistently.

However, it works when opening schedule using Windows 7 using IE or Chrome and when I open PWA schedule from any of the farm servers (Windows Server 2012).

SharePoint 2016 server farm is running, Front-end, Cache, App and Search server and SQL server 2016 and last patch is KB4011578 and KB4011576 packs (dependent and independent). I have run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard on all the SharePoint 2016 servers.

I am using the Administrator account to make sure permission is not an issue and behavior is the same.

Note that the ribbon doesn't look quite right, because the edit and close button are both enable.  The project is not checked out.

Any suggestions?  Anyone seen this themselves?

  • Here is more information that may help resolve.  When I run IE 11.358.16399.0  as a different person, then I am prompted with the following and then the schedule comes up as expected.  I have turned protect mode off and on and this did not resolve the issue, although the prompt implies it is going outside of protect mode.

  • Same problem here so just want to poke this thread again...

Some investigation: Selected "edit page" and see no webpart listed. Tried to find it again in add new webpart, but no luck finding the correct one.

So, appreciate if someone would like to share if any solution?

  • My fix to issue was to rebuild SharePoint server

  • My fix was to add the Webpart "Details".

    Edit Page->Project Web App->Details.

  • Wow, thanks for VERY prompt reply Michael :)

Ok... that sounds kinda harsh, but had the feeling that something like this would be required :(

Few quick questions though (if ok to ask)

    • I'm "just an admin" for our PWA instance and guess this has to be done by some site collection manager or something?
    • How does a rebuild actually impact? wipes everything? even the projects?

    Cheers

  • Perfect Robert, this worked :)

I actually tried this before, but only showed the "timeline" first. However, when selecting another project I got the gantt charts back for all the projects.

Thanks, you saved my day/week :)
