Change Outlook to use Online mode - Remove OST file automatic

    Question

  • Hi

One of my customers are running an RDS environment, and someone have setup Outlook 2010 to run in Cache mode.

This have leaved me with many very big OST files on their UPD, and I therefore what to clean some of this up.

My idea is to change the use of Outlook 2010 to Online mode, with a GPO, and then I want the *.OST files on their UPD to be deleted.

However, this is not something that I have found a solution for yet.

When a user logs on after the new GPO have been Applied, the Outlook profile changes to run in "online" mode, but Outlook keeps the datafile.

If I create a new Outlook profile for the user instead, when Outlook will use an "Online" datafile, and this is what I want for them all.

But I don't want to go around and create new user profiles for 85 users once Again.

Is there a way to have Outlook to "forget" the datafile, and start using "online" instead for a local *.ost file?

    Thanks

    Allan
