Update 1801 to 1807 RRS feed

Answers

  • Hi,

    Follow the steps below.

On your server where you have DPM Remote Administration's console installed:

    1. Open up a File Explorer
    2. Head to one of the following paths (depending what you're using)
      64-Bit: amd64\1033\DPMProtectionAgent_KB4339950.msp or
      32-Bit: i386\1033\DPMProtectionAgent_KB4339950.msp

The full path can be like: \\DPMSERVER\C$\Program Files\Microsoft System Center\DPM\DPM\agents\RA\5.1.378.0\amd64\1033
    3. Run the DPMAgentInstaller_KB4339950_AMD64.exe / DPMAgentInstaller_KB4339950.exe as Administrator
    4. Complete the installation and then try running the DPM console on your remote server (note: it might take some seconds for the console to open).

This worked for me at least.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Hi!

To install this update for Data Protection Manager, start by downloading the update to your DPM server.

Now follow the steps below to install the rollup update:

    1. Before you install this update, make a backup of the Data Protection Manager database.
    2. Open up a Command Prompt (As Admin), change directory to where you downloaded the DPM update to.
    3. Run the Detectoid for System Center Data Protection Manager Server-all-dataprotectionmanager2016-kb4339950 (this is the biggest file, 600mb+).

    Example

  • I have now tested this on two different lab environments, both environments were DPM 1801 and I updated both to DPM 1807.

    • Environment 1: The DPM console wouldn't open after the update.
    • Environment 2: The DPM console would load for some time (up to 20-30sec) and then open.

I uninstalled DPM from Environment 1 which wouldn't open the console (with the retain data option).
I then reinstalled DPM 1801 and then updated to 1807, and now my console would open nicely (also taking 10-20sec).

    Best regards,
    Leon

But after run msc is displayed error "MMC cannot open the file c:\program files\microsoft system center 2016\dpm\dpm\bin\microsoft system center data protection manager.msc This mayby becouse the file does not exist, is not an mmc console, or was create by a later version of MMC. This may also be becouse you do not have sufficient access rights to the file." .
