Processor Concerns/Performance Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Intel Pentium D 820 Smithfield 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache installed in the ASUS P5LD2 R2.0  Motherboard often than not this processor runs at 1.40 GHZ on each of the core and a front side buss of 400 and not the expected 2.8 GHZ with 800 front side bus.  The Cache remains constant at 1MB per processor .  This really has me for a loss and have tried various setting in the Bios and in my Operating System.  Vista Home Premium.  I used the Intel(R) Processor ID Utility - Windows* version Release 3.5 and have also received benchmarks at low as 3400 on pcpitstop. .  Vista rates the processor at a 3.2 score and is my lowest of all scores with the next lowest being memory at 4.5.
When running normal at 2.8 GHz I bench at 7000+ on pcpitstop and I can easily notice the performance increase.  Any Ideas?
