  • Hi,

These two .dat file, which combined with the logoned user GUID"51F39552-1075-4199-B513-0C10EA185DB0" and " DC576DA6-D676-4A15-906D-C0CEAF949543", contain the fingerprint/face recognition information/cache.

Under Windows Biometric Service, there is a database stores biometric data without gaining direct access to any biometric hardware or samples.

You can find the corresponding registry entry

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\WbioSrvc\Databases

  • I am in the process of deployment convenience sign-in in my organization. I have some security concerns though.

    - Is the PIN locally stored? according to the official documentation , Windows Hello for business does not store it , neither locally or remotely. Does Convenience sign-in behaves the same way?

    - Is the TPM used to encrypt the local .DAT files containing the biometric information?if not, how is it encrypted?

    many thanks
